Who am I?
I’m a health-related blogger. I write on acne (obviously – you’re reading my acne blog), but also on a variety of other health-related topics. At heart I like health and I like sharing what I learn about health. Acne is one of those topics.
What am I not?
I’m not a dermatologist. I’m not a doctor. I don’t work in a healthcare field. I’m a blogger/writer who is interested in health topics including acne. I don’t profess to be an acne expert or doctor, because I am not.
What can I then possibly offer or say about acne?
I spend time reading health-related articles, studies, blogs, and staying up-to-date on health products, including acne treatment products. I’m a writer and in my view I can communicate information through the blog medium.
What I offer is information. More specifically, I offer directed information. I’m a filter of sorts. You either like what I say or you don’t. My aim is to be transparent with my earnings on this blog, what I know, and what I don’t know. For starters, I’m not a doctor. Second, I have affiliate links in my posts for the products I direct you to.
But hey, if some of the links are affiliate links, doesn’t that mean I’m biased? No, at least I don’t think so. First of all, affiliate links don’t increase the purchase price to you. Secondly, I have a reputation to maintain. I write extensively about health and I want to provide direction to decent products; particularly to products that have a natural or holistic approach to treatment, including acne treatment. I don’t set out all the acne products available on this blog. As publisher I pick and choose. As a reader, you decide two things:
- Do you trust me as a source?
- Are you interested in the products I direct you to?
You’re the boss at the end of the day. It is my sincere intention to direct you to products and give you information that helps you. I’ll be frank, if I were in this solely for the money, there’s easier products to sell. But for me, I prefer informing about products that actually can help a person.
Do all the acne products I mention work for everyone?
Absolutely not. I can’t say they’ll work for you. I don’t own the product. I can only let you know about it. There are few health / acne treatment products out there that work for everyone. Everyone’s underlying acne causes vary and therefore the results from treatment applied will vary.
One thing I can say about the products mentioned in this site and it is this. They have an awful lot of testimonials.
But aren’t testimonials fake?
One can never know for sure, but I can say this. Not too long ago, the FTC came out with new regulations that ramped up the online testimonial and affiliate disclosure and testimonial verification requirements. This was a fantastic step in the right direction. Will it end fraud? Nope. But companies and people with quality products will more likely take the requirements more seriously. This makes the Internet a more reliable place for us all.
And that is why much of this About page is about my approach to this blog. I want to be fully transparent to you, a reader of my acne blog. In my view it is critically important you have the opportunity to make informed decisions.
I know that suffering from acne is an emotional nightmare. You hope each new product will work for you. The bad news is not all products (even the ones mentioned in this blog) are guaranteed to work for you. The good news is I do my best to mention only the type of products that seem to offer something of value - and that you are fully informed about what this blog is all about.
